Why I won’t develop for your tech-illiterate mother
I read a post today in which the author tells his readers they need to design and develop so that interfaces are easy to use by people who don’t know how to use computers. Maybe I’m oversimplifying his point, but I’ve got my own point to make.
That point is this: I will never make the lowest common denominator my concern.

Philadelphia isn’t the nicest city in the world. In fact, it’s a terrible place. Don’t go there if at all possible. Problem is, I work there. At any rate, on the drive home last night I was thinking, as I normally do on the one and a half hour trip. What I was thinking as I passed a “group” of “kids” walking down the “street” (I use all these terms loosely), was that my iPhone seemed like a very easy way to tell people to mug me. The apple ear buds a sure sign that someone has merchandise that needs lifting. So what if there was some way to mask the fact that you’ve got an expensive technical object on your person?
